WHAT'S OUR STORY?
Located in Spokane, WA, Lone Canary is dedicated to the production of high-quality, elegant wines
that express what is delicious and distinctive about Washington state fruit. Sourcing our fruit from the some
of the finest vineyards in the Yakima and Columbia Valleys, we released our first vintage in August, 2003.
In its ownership, Lone Canary brings together three people with a long history in, and enthusiasm for,
the Washington wine industry: Mike Scott, former winemaker at Caterina Winery, and Steve and Jeanne Schaub,
local vineyardists and great fans of Mike's wines. Located in downtown Spokane, our production is
around 4,500 cases, with a focus on Sauvignon Blanc and red wines showcasing both Italian and Bordeaux varietals.
WHO IS OUR WINEMAKER?
Mike Scott has been a part of the Washington
wine industry for over 20 years. After years of quietly honing his craft in Spokane, WA, Scott
opened Caterina Winery in 1993, and was the winemaker and general manager there until December, 2002.
During his career he has become a respected figure in the Washington State wine community, earning high
praise for his elegant and expressive wines. Most recently, his vineyard designated wines from the
Willard Family Vineyard and DuBrul Vineyard received exceptional ratings from a number of publications
and have been widely ranked among the best wines in the state by both Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator.
WHAT'S WITH THE BIRD?
Our logo (affectionatly known as Clooney) is an artistic rendering of Washington's state bird,
the American Goldfinch, or Wild Canary. Forging a lone and exciting
path using Washington's exemplary fruit, we have chosen to stand
apart from the flock through unique artistic expression in our wines.
WHERE ARE WE?
The winery is located at 109
S. Scott St., #B2, Spokane, WA 99202. Our tasting room is open Thursday - Sunday from 12 - 5 p.m.
